What is your (business) motto and why?

'The more you know, the more you know what you don't know. I am always learning, which is good for staying sharp. However, the investment profession remains shrouded in uncertainty. Overestimating your own knowledge is a pitfall when making decisions. Unfortunately, I see that this is not only a problem for me in asset management and beyond.'

What reading, listening or viewing tips do you have for our readers and why?

'I always read the columns by Mark Dowding (CIO of Bluebay) and Han de Jong (Crystal Clear Economics). The former takes a tour around the world and the latter aptly addresses pension issues. Both use a touch of humour and cynicism. Now that (geo)politics is playing a crucial role in financial markets, I am also watching Buitenhof with even more interest.'
